Date: 02/17/21
As a number of people continue to enroll through this year's open enrollment period, the fact remains California's most vulnerable communities still face significant barriers in accessing quality insurance.
In California, an estimated 1.2 million uninsured people are eligible for financial help today through Covered California. They may also qualify for low-cost or no-cost coverage through Medi-Cal.
Get Help to Enroll
Enrolling isn't easy for everyone. That's why Health Net awarded $1.96 million in grants to local Medi-Cal providers to help educate residents about Medi-Cal benefits. The company awarded grants to a variety of organizations:
- Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC)
- Community Based Organizations (CBO)
- Clinic consortia in California
As part of its Community & Infrastructure Investment program, Health Net awarded 24 grants this year. Each organization received up to $90,000 to help increase enrollment across California over the next 13-months.
How Organizations Will Use the Grand Funding
- Amplify awareness of available benefits
- Educate communities about the importance of health care coverage
- Help newly eligible people enroll in health care coverage
- Assist new enrollees in healthcare system comprehension
- Support existing members through the coverage renewal process
