Oak Fire Evacuees at Mariposa Emergency Shelter Can Now Access Telehealth via Health Net’s Mobile Care

Mobile Kiosk to Provide Access to Telehealth, Directory of Resources for Community Members

More than 6,000 people have been evacuated due to the Oak Fire in Mariposa County. To support impacted community members, Health Net deployed a company RV to an emergency shelter in Mariposa County on July 27th. 

This Health Net RV, along with two others, form the core of our Mobile Outreach for Value, Equity and Supports (MOVES) program. Our MOVES program deploys these RVs during natural disasters to help residents in need. 

We’re also proactive with our RV deployments. Health Net works closely with local organizations and providers across California to tailor MOVES events and screenings to meet local care needs.

For example, our RVs have kiosks that offer telemedicine and connect both members and nonmembers with resources they need. Sending our kiosks to emergency/evacuation shelters can help provide access to:

  • Telehealth
  • Behavioral health
  • Nurse advice line
  • Member portal
  • Access to transportation
  • Food
  • Shelter
  • Pharmacies
  • Zoom to get into touch with families
  • Self-service Public Resources 
  • Access to social drivers of health partners (ex. FindHelp and 211)
     

          


Special Assistance During a Declared State of Emergency

Health Net is also providing special assistance to make sure members affected by the ongoing wildfire have access to essential prescription medications and other healthcare services. These will help them cope with grief, loss, stress or trauma. Our Population Health Team makes outbound calls to give telephone support and onsite support at the impacted areas and evacuation shelters. 

Prescription Benefits During a Declared State of Emergency

  • During evacuations, members in Mariposa County affected by the wildfire can get an emergency supply from the drug store where they originally filled their prescription.
  • If their drug store is closed, members can call Health Net at 1-800-400-8987 for help.

Help with Coping During a Declared State of Emergency

Health Net members can also call MHN for coping support. MHN can offer referrals to mental health counselors, local services, or phone consultations. These services can help members cope with grief, stress, or trauma related to the wildfire. MHN’s hotline works 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They can be reached at 1-800-227-1060.

Video Medical Appointments During a Declared State of Emergency 

If members cannot reach their primary care provider during a declared state of emergency, Health Net provides access to telehealth services at no cost. To make an appointment, members should refer to the back of their Health Net ID card. This will give more information on how to access telehealth services. Members can find this same information by registering with and logging on to HealthNet.com.
