Californians Receive Flu Vaccination and Education from Health Net's Mobile RVs and Award Winning Fluvention® Program
Date: 10/24/22
With flu season right around the corner, Health Net is again bringing vaccines and education to California residents so they can get protect themselves and their loved ones from illness. Through our three recreational vehicles (RVs), we have provided more than 22,000 vaccinations at community events since April 2021.
Although every flu season is different, this year's flu season faces an additional complication with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and its many variants. The flu can affect people differently, but the flu vaccine has been shown to have many benefits. This includes reduced risk of illness, hospitalization and even flu-related death.
To help protect against the flu, Health Net is bringing vaccines and education directly to the communities we serve. We will be providing vaccines and education at community events through the end of the year. Residents are encouraged to check Health Net's event calendar for events near them and to stop by and receive their flu shot or resources for more information.
Our Fluvention® program offers free resources to help Californians understand the importance of the flu shot, the risks of flu season, and other preventive measures. The initiative also provides special attention for high-risk populations by delivering targeted messaging through multiple touchpoints, including mailers, phone calls, texting, and local events.
Both members and nonmembers alike can receive flu vaccines from Health Net's RVs at local community events. It's especially important for groups at higher risk for complication, including:
- Pregnant women
- Children younger than age 5, but especially children younger than age 2
- People 65 years of age and older
- People of any age with certain chronic medical conditions
Health Net has been supporting the health of California residents for more than 40 years, investing in innovative community and technology resources that meet members where they are.
