Sacramentans in Need to Receive Food, Clothing, Medi-Cal Enrollment Assistance and More Thanks to $100,000 Grant from Health Net
Date: 08/15/23
Health Net recently celebrated the grand re-opening of the Community Closet and Food Pantry at Elica Health Centers (Elica) in Sacramento. Thanks to a $100,000 grant from Health Net, Elica will be able to once again provide free canned and dry foods, clothing, translation, Medi-Cal enrollment assistance and other services to thousands of low-income, underserved people – including immigrants and refugees.
Amber Kemp, Vice President, Regional Medi-Cal Lead at Health Net, attended the event and talked about the importance of local partnerships and their impacts.
Community closets and food pantries are often vital to the health and wellbeing of communities. In June, thanks to the generous donations from the surrounding community, Elica distributed more than:
- 2,200 pounds of food
- 3,440 pounds of clothing
- 1,040 pounds of household products
- 750 pounds of toys and books
It’s partnerships like these that allow Health Net to make a real difference in the lives of individuals and families. These items were provided to more than 2,360 Sacramentans. We’re proud to help Elica bring back these valuable services to those who need them most.
In addition to the re-opening of the closet and pantry, the grant also enabled Elica to add 2,105 sq. ft. of total space to their Resource Center, where they serve an estimated total of 13,500 low-income community members per year.
Health Net is committed to building stronger, healthier communities by helping people access the care and resources they need. By investing in local partners, like Elica, we’re able to make a positive impact in the lives of Sacramento residents.
