Health Net Supports National Health Center Week to Strengthen Partnerships and Community Bonds
Date: 09/13/23
Early August 2023 marked a yearly highlight for Health Net and our provider partners throughout California. Since 2017, Health Net has supported our partners as they honor National Health Center Week (NHCW) held each year during the first full week of August.
NCHW supports our partner Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQs) who use the campaign to bring more attention to the important services that health centers provide in their communities. For instance, because the beginning of August is a busy time for school-aged youth, many centers provide services such as:
- School supply giveaways
- Health screenings
- Vaccines and more
NHCW also happens during an opportune time when Congress is in recess and lawmakers most likely are in their districts and may be looking for positives in their communities. NHCW offers just the ticket as providers host a range of events that include.
- Awards for staff and patients
- Community gatherings
- Health fairs
NCHW also presents a great chance for Health Net to further support provider efforts – and to strengthen our partnerships with them. So far in 2023 Health Net has given more than $102K of financial and in-kind contributions to 25 health centers across the state, including 2,500 backpacks. Providers are located in the counties of:
- Butte
- Glenn
- Los Angeles
- Madera
- Mariposa
- Orange
- Riverside
- San Joaquin
- Stanislaus
- San Diego
NCHW is organized by the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC). Its mission is to celebrate and increase awareness of the 1,400 Community Health Centers (CHCs) across the nation. These centers provide complete quality healthcare services to more than 30 million patients across 14,500 communities each year.
