COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKER PATHWAY PROGRAM GRADUATES FIRST COHORT, NEW GRADS READY TO BRIDGE COMMUNITY AND HEALTHCARE IN SACRAMENTO
WHAT: More local Sacramento residents will now receive help navigating the complex health care system to access the screenings and health care services they need, thanks to a partnership between Health Net, WellSpace Health, Sacramento City College, and the Greater Urban League of Sacramento.
The inaugural Community Health Workers Program at the Greater Urban League of Sacramento provided 15 local students with the necessary academic and financial support to earn a certificate of completion. The certificate will allow graduates to pursue careers a Patient/Health Navigators, Community Health Educators or Enrollment Specialist. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the demand of these types of workers in continuing to grow, BLS estimates a growth rate of 21% by 2020 thus increase the demand for qualified workers in Sacramento and across the country.

WHO: Graduating students will be available after the graduation ceremony to share their personal stories about joining and graduating from the Community Health Worker program. Representatives from the partnership will also be available to answer questions about the program, scholarships and the overall importance of this collaboration.
