California Seniors Receive High Quality Care from Health Net's Medicare Advantage Plans

As we head towards the end of 2020, the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services once again recognized two of Health Net’s Medicare Advantage plans for the excellent quality of care and customer service it provides its members.

This year, two of its Medicare Advantage Plans received high marks in the Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Star Quality Ratings Report.

  • WellCare of California, which serves approximately 410,000 Medicare Advantage and Medicare Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) members across the state, received a 4.5-out-of-5 Star rating for its Medicare plan. This marks the third year in a row that WellCare has earned a rating of 4 Stars or higher in California. Additionally, of the 400 plans that CMS rated across the industry, only 16% were in WellCare’s company with 4.5 stars.
  • Health Net, which serves more than 3 million members in its commercial and government-sponsored plans, received a 4-out-of-5 Star rating for its Medicare plan. This year marks the third year in a row that Health Net has earned a rating of 4 Stars or higher on this prestigious report.

CMS publishes its annual Star Ratings to help Medicare beneficiaries make more informed decisions when selecting a health plan. Medicare plans are ranked on a scale of 1 to 5 Stars, with five Stars representing the highest level of quality. A number of factors determines the annual ratings, including:

  • Clinical care
  • Member service experience, and
  • Member feedback gathered annually on how well plans perform in several categories, including quality of care and customer service.
