Sacramento Middle School Students Help End Social Isolation Thanks to Support from Health Net

Date: 02/21/25

Social isolation is when a person lacks meaningful relationships or contact with others. This can lead to little to no social support and a lack of connection with their community or society.

Health Net is proud to support initiatives that encourage inclusion and help students get to know one another. That's why we helped California schools host events for No One Eats Alone Day (NOEAD), an initiative aimed at ending social isolation.

On Friday, February 7, 2025, Health Net hosted an event with Sam Brannan Middle School in Sacramento. This was done in partnership with Sandy Hook Promise and sponsored by the Centene Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Health Net's parent company, Centene Corporation.

During lunch, student leaders at Sam Brannan promoted peer-to-peer connections through provided activities like conversation starter cards, art projects and more. All materials were available in both English and Spanish.

Peer-to-peer support programs help build connection, self-esteem and a culture of belonging at schools. This year, more than 1.5 million students nationwide celebrated the National NOEAD, which was officially recognized on February 14, 2025.

It's Health Net's mission to transform the health of the community and that means caring for California's most vulnerable residents, which includes our youth. We're proud to support NOEAD to help end social isolation. By fostering stronger connections among students and promoting a sense of belonging, we can help ensure they feel seen, supported and included.
