Health Net's Mobile RV Team Brings More Services to More California Communities In 2023
Date: 01/09/24
2023 was a banner year for Health Net's Recreational Vehicle (RV) program. Building on the success of past years, the Mobile RV Community Resource Center (Mobile RV Team) increased its efforts to bring healthcare services to local neighborhoods throughout California. The team’s three RVs traveled to more than 175 community events in 2023 to support local services and events. Each stop offered local members free:
- Wellness screenings
- Preventive care
- Vaccinations
- Health information and more
The Mobile RV Team continued to grow and evolve. They not only attended larger community events, but they aligned with many of Health Net’s trusted community-based organizations to help them expand. Team RV’s were present at:
- Farmers markets
- Health and fitness events
- Food pantries
- Faith-based gatherings and more
Free health screenings were also offered at the events. Event-goers were tested for:
- Sun damage
- Bone density
- Grip strength
- Glucose levels
- Cholesterol levels and more
Medi-Cal front and center
Along with expanding event coverage, a primary goal of the 2023 campaign was to inform California communities about Medi-Cal redetermination (whether or not they qualify to keep their coverage). The Mobile RV Team set out into underserved neighborhoods to help make an impact on those Medi-Cal members facing redetermination. The team helped to:
- Provide information about the redetermination process
- Answer questions
- Alert members about what to look for in the mail
- Offer resources and information about how to stay updated and retain coverage
Though it was a busy 2023 for the Mobile RV Team – supporting events, conferences and speaking engagements – they look forward to keeping the pedal to the metal in the coming year. Moving into 2024, they will continue to focus on helping as many Medi-Cal members as they can retain their coverage. Plus, the team plans to launch efforts to support the 26-49 Medi-Cal expansion campaign, letting local communities know All Are Welcome to quality healthcare.
